How
To Overcome Procrastination
Golden rules of goal setting
3. FIND A RESEARCH PARTNER / SYSTEM
Now that you have a goal and a deadline, think about how you will force
yourself to stay with them. A strong and loyal friend is always a very good
resource in this area. Let them know your intentions and give them permission
to check in on the road to make sure you're on course. Bonus points if you find
someone who has overcome certain areas that you always stop.
Responsibility produces the ability to react.
Stephen R. Covey
Along with recruiting people who keep your word, it can also help build
a system like two that forces you to meet deadlines.
For example, from me, I
release six songs a year to one a week just by doing #MalachiMondays. I release
a song or remix for this project every Monday and then I will see it live. With
this system, I also sweat every Saturday when I realize that I'll have something
ready soon or people will ask me about a song. I don't want to disappoint
anyone. That pressure was enough to make sure I had something to finish each
week. Responsibility is the sealant that unites commitment to results.

4. MAKE A REAL PLAN
One thing that has helped me improve my game production is to stop
thinking of it as "songwriting" and start thinking of it as
"songwriting".
Think about when you need to build a house. If it collapses after
construction, it doesn't matter what color it is or how many square feet it
has. The most important thing is that the house is strong and durable. After
building a solid foundation with good insulation, you can decorate it as you
wish.
Planning failure means failure of plans.
Alan Lakein
The songs are no different in the houses. Yes, these are the
expressions of the designer, but he must also stand the test of time and pass.
To be effective, it is important to create a plan for creating, modifying and
completing each high-level project. Give me six hours to cut down a tree and
I'll spend the first four years grinding the bile.
Abraham Lincoln
One of the tools I use to create a plan is a list of all the tasks I
don't know how to do (and / or don't want). It can be mix, music, sound design
or marketing. Once I have an extensive list, it's easy to see what can destroy
my song. I accept responsibility for these parts of the project by learning
about them or spending them. This method eliminates all surprises. Also, no
surprises on the line meant that I was less likely to be able to reduce the
song.
